Ulrich Hinsberger est né en 1967 dans l’Illigen/ Saar. Il apprit la lutherie entre 1986 et 1990 à la « Staatlichen Berufsfaschschule für Geigenbau » à Mittenwald et reçut son diplôme avec les
félicitations du jury. Les années suivantes il travailla à Munich et à Tübingen, se consacrant surtout à la réparation et remise en état d’instruments à cordes. En 1993, il reçut son titre de «Maître Luthier» à Nuremberg.
En 1994, il fonda son propre atelier avec sa femme Dagmar à Winterreute. En 1997, il déménagea son atelier à Biberach/ Ringschnait dans l’Oberschwaben. Depuis, il fabrique avec succès des instruments de très grande qualité. Depuis 2001, il est devenu professeur à l’école de lutherie de Mittenwald.
Au cours de sa carrière, il a été de nombreuses fois récompensé lors de concours internationaux. En 1993, il obtient la meilleure note pour un violoncelle au Concours Jakobus Stainer de Fribourg et en 1996, il remporte à ce même concours le prix du mérite pour un violoncelle.
En 2000, il a été récompensé par la « Violin Society of America » à Cincinnatti (Ohio) par le prix du mérite pour un violon. Il a aussi été récompensé deux fois au Concours Strad de Violoncelles de Manchester, en 2001 d’abord avec le prix du mérite et en 2004 avec une médaille d’argent pour un violoncelle.
En 2003, il remporte une médaille d’argent pour un violoncelle à la «Triennale Internazionale» de Crémone et en 2006, il obtient à ce même concours une médaille d’argent pour un violoncelle mais également la meilleure note en «artisanat».
Enfin en 2010, il repart du premier concours international de Lutherie de Beijing avec une médaille d’or pour un violon, un prix spécial violon et une médaille de bronze pour un alto.
Ulrich Hinsberger, born in 1967 in Illingen/Saar, received his training as a violinmaker between 1986 and 1990 at the ”Staatlichen Berufsfachschule für Geigenbau in Mittenwald,” graduating with merit.The following years took him to Munich and Tübingen, as a journeyman, involved mostly in the repair and the sound adjustment of stringed instruments, before taking his master degree in Nürnberg in 1993.
In 1994 he founded his own workshop together with his wife Dagmar, in Winterreute.In 1997 the workshop moved to Biberach / Ringschnait in Oberschwaben.Since then, Ulrich Hinsberger has successfully worked on the construction of highest quality stringed instruments.Since 2001 he has been a teacher at the Violin Making School in Mittenwald for Violinmaking and Theories.
He has received numerous prices from international competitions. In 1993, he obtained the highest score of all submitted instruments for a cello at the Jokobus Stainer Competition in Freiburg and in 1996, the Merit cello Prize in the same Competition.
In 2000, he was awarded by the “Violin Society of America” in Cincinnatti (Ohio) a Merit violin prize. He was also awarded twice by the Strad cello Making Competition in Manchester, first in 2001 with a Merit Prize and then in 2004 with a silver medal.
In 2003, he was awarded by the “Triennale Internazionale” in Cremona with a silver medal for a cello. In 2006, he received not only a silver medal for a cello in the “Triennale Internazionale” but also the highest score for workmanship.
Finally, in 2010, at the first China International Violin Making Competition in Beijing, he was awarded a gold medal for a violin, a special prize for a violin and a bronze medal for a viola.
